The 18th European Film Festival at the Palic lake, near Serbia's northern city of Subotica, will be closed Friday evening after the award ceremony.

The location of the ceremony will depend on the weather. It will either be the summer stage at the lake or one of the indoor theatres in Subotica.

The jury is expected to announce the winners on Friday.

The main competition programme had 12 entries. There will be an award for the best film, Golden Tower, and best director, Palic Tower.

The jury is composed of Goran Markovic and Andras Urban (Serbia), Cristophe van Rompaey (Belgium), Gunnar Almer (Sweden), Monica Birladeanu (Romania), Magdalena Poplawska (Poland) and Ognjen Svilicic (Croatia).

The best film in the Parallels and Encounters programme, where 10 films from countries in transition competed, will be decided by an international jury of film critics, comprising Neil Young (UK), Natasa Senjanovic (Italy) and Eva Krizova (Slovakia).

Serbian director Misa Radivojevic's new film How I Was Stolen by the Germans will be screened as an out-of-competition film at the end of the festival.
