Serbia would face coal supply problems if the Vreoci cemetery relocation did not started recently, lack in supply of coal of five to seven mil.tons per year.
RB „Kolubara” is the biggest mining system in Serbia, that produces more than 70% of state coal supply and represents the spine of energy system in Serbia. From Kolubara lignite 50% of Serbian electricity is being produced. Serbia would face huge problem in two years and big energy crisis, also total economy output would be decreased
State secretary for mining and geology Mr.Zlatko Dragosavljevic underlines that the Government of Serbia and Ministry of mining, environment and urban planning started the process of relocation of Vreoci cemetery so the biggest mining system could provide sustainability in coal production, but also to preserve large number of working posts which would be directly endangered with eventual production cuts from 2013.
From the strategic development point of view for RB Kolubara, the current cemetery relocation is the most important step in the last 20 years. The question should be why this was not done earlier, and not shall we have to do it.
Cemetery relocation is not easy and pleasant task for all involved, and its not easy to explain to people the importance of this process, specially to families that have their loved ones buried on that cemetery.
It is important that there is a big community awareness on the level of Serbia and local communities of Vreoci on how important is this project. According to the Mr.Dragosavljevic all persons and families will be reimbursed in adequate matters for their properties on the locations
