Borislav Borovic of the opposition party New Serbia (NS) stated on Sunday that it is high time for the government to realise Serbia is in an unofficial social and economic emergency which requires a new mode of operation, without simulating economic normality and spreading ungrounded optimism.

According to a release issued by the party, the government has the obligation to ensure conditions for basic existence of its population because it would otherwise face a social explosion.

According to Borovic, the Serbian government is behaving irresponsibly, does not recognise unstoppable and dramatic trends the world is facing and is waiting for instructions from outside Serbia which will never come or if they do, they will be detrimental to the country.

This is why the country's entire energy needs to be directed to urgent rehabilitation of the economy, primarily the agricultural sector and meeting the needs of local demand, Borovic said.
