State Secretary in the Ministry of Kosovo-Metohija Oliver Ivanovic will meet with north Kosovo municipal presidents in Zvecan on Tuesday to discuss the current situation and the referendum which the municipalities want to schedule.
Ivanovic told Tanjug that he will not question the right to referendum, but rather warn representatives of local self-governments that local policy must not be contrary to state interests.
“I will inform them about the stance of the government and the president, and warn them that although they have right to a referendum, it might be contrary to the interests of the state and government. Such sensitive issues, which are beyond the competence of local self-governments, have to be in close coordination with the government,” Ivanovic said.
Ivanovic will confer with the municipal presidents of Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposavic, Krstimir Pantic, Dragisa Milivic, Slavisa Ristic and Branko Ninic in Zvecan at Tuesday noon.
