Labour Minister Rasim Ljajic opened in Belgrade on Friday the first social welfare fair, which will have more than 130 participants who will show the visitors what the welfare system provides to its users.

Partner relations and cooperation with non-governmental organizations, local governments and all those who can help improve the welfare system are important to preserve the system, Ljajic stated.

Events like the fair are a message to all those who provide service within the social welfare system that the things done in previous years, meaning the reforms, have a point and effect, Ljajic noted.

"I think Serbia is a champion in creating various strategies. We have a strategy in almost every field, but I am not so sure we are always the champions when it comes to their implementation," he pointed out, adding that most of the points of the social welfare strategy had been implemented after all.

Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert said social inclusion takes on its true meaning during crises, adding that there has to be commitment to helping those who need help.

We have to consider our priorities, and those are the children, and we have to offer the best solutions for them, he stated, pointing out the fact that there had been an improvement in the number of foster families in Serbia.

According to him, persons with disabilities, refugees and internally displaced persons should also be prioritized.
