Head of the Belgrade team for the talks with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic has said Kosovo has not gained true independence, because it is not an internationally recognized country.

Head of the Belgrade team for the talks with Pristina Borislav Stefanovic has said Kosovo has not gained true independence, because it is not an internationally recognized country.

"Regardless of how many countries recognize Kosovo, it will not bring it the high level of independence that the authorities in Pristina wish," he told TV B92 commenting on the 4th anniversary of Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence, which the Kosovo Albanians celebrated on Friday.

Stefanovic believes the Serbian diplomacy successfully prevented Kosovo from gaining full independence by becoming an internationally recognized state.

He pointed out that in March it will be one year since the start of the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and added that everything agreed so far could only benefit the local population.
