A new "wave" of progress will occur in Serbia in the next ten to fifteen years, and the investors who are thinking of investing in the country should "grab the opportunity," Director of the Holcim Serbia Gustavo Navarro said on Saturday.
Serbia has achieved significant progress thanks to its reforms and the EU candidate status and Holcim's ten-year experience of working in the country showed that the greatest value are the people, he told Tanjug.
Speaking about the key reasons for the company's success, Naverro said that he always mentions the people in Serbia, who are going through a great transformation and change, and added that this is what encourages the business development. He told investors not just to plan to come to Serbia for a short period of time and make profit, but rather to come and stay for a long time.
According to Navarro, the cement factory in Serbia has adapted best to the business conditions affected by the economic crisis, even better than the parent company in Switzerland. People in Serbia are very flexible and able to adapt to new circumstances, he said, and added that Holcim Serbia, which will this year mark a jubilee of ten years of doing business in the country, is very satisfied with the achieved results.
Holcim is a Swiss investment, but it actually presents a Serbian company, since 95 percent of what it produces stays in Serbia, by which we make our contribution to the country's economy, Navarro said, adding that even during the crisis this contribution amounts to at least EUR 40 million annually.
