Leader of the Democratic Party (DS) and President of Serbia Boris Tadic stated on Sunday that the Choice for a Better Life coalition will win the May 6 elections, because its choice is a modern, European and strong Serbia.

Leader of the Democratic Party (DS) and President of Serbia Boris Tadic stated on Sunday that the Choice for a Better Life coalition will win the May 6 elections, because its choice is a modern, European and strong Serbia.

“People who said that hundreds of Muslims should be killed, who called for violence and threatened (former prime minister) Zoran Djindjic just before the assassination cannot offer this choice to the citizens," Tadic said in Kragujevac, central Serbia, at a pre-election rally organized by the coalition led by the DS .

He said that members of DS are ready to take both the greatest risk and the greatest responsibility, and recalled that they have not changed their opinion and stances for 22 years, since this has been their choice, just like the citizens will have a choice to vote for a modern and European Serbia, as the democrats see it, the president noted.

I am confident that the people who threatened Muslims and called for violence cannot offer safety to every child in Serbia. The citizens want safety and they want someone to run Serbia responsibly, Tadic said.

He also underlined that the policies which change every week or every year are not reliable or serious, adding that they do not secure modern Serbia's EU path.
“We are all proud of having won the EU candidate status, and the citizens were those who bore the very difficult reforms on their shoulders. The most important thing was to "rise up“ at least once more than the others, and the DS "rose up" even when shot at," Tadic concluded.
