Serbian President Boris Tadic stated on Sunday that the serial production of FIAT 500L will begin in a few days in the Kragujevac-based factory, and announced that Serbia will get another car factory soon.

Serbian President Boris Tadic stated on Sunday that the serial production of FIAT 500L will begin in a few days in the Kragujevac-based factory, and announced that Serbia will get another car factory soon.

Serbia has remained a car manufacturer, it has preserved the tradition but also created a new possibility for a better future and life, Tadic said in Kragujevac (central Serbia), at a pre-election rally of the Democratic Party (DS). Tadic, who is also the leader of DS, noted that the serial production of FIAT 500L will begin in a few days, as promised.

The president underlined that the initial promise was that the production will start much earlier, but that the deadline has been extended due to the world financial crisis.

"We have extended the deadline because we have been hit by this scourge of crisis, but we have fulfilled our promise and this is very important," Tadic said, adding that FIAT 500L represents not only the strength of the company managed by Sergio Machionne but also the strength of the workers of Zastava.

The Serbian president put special emphasis on the importance of the work of employees in the car factory in Kragujevac, who, as he recalled, made transmission, seats and other parts of FIAT 500L.
