Dacic, who is also the deputy prime minister and interior minister, called on Tadic's advisors to stop public opinion research and to "allow" the president "to decide on the presidential election."

Socialist Party of Serbia leader Ivica Dacic said on March 19 that whether a presidential election will be called is up to President Boris Tadic, but the date of the election depends on Parliament Speaker and Vice President of the Socialist Party of Serbia Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic.

"If they want agreement, then the presidential election will be held according to an agreement. If they do not, then the presidential election will be in accordance with the free will of Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic. If someone wants to calculate, then we can calculate too," Dacic told journalists at the Socialist Party of Serbia headquarters before a meeting of the party's main commitee.
