Kosovo media identified the prosecutor as Nazmi Mustafi, the head of the anti-corruption task force within the special prosecutor's office. Police said a third suspect was being investigated but had not been arrested.

Kosovo's top anti-corruption prosecutor has been arrested in a probe into allegations he took bribes to drop corruption charges against certain people, police and media reported Tuesday, AFP reports.

Police said in a statement they had arrested two suspects on Monday "in connection with a corruption investigation" that involves a prosecutor from the special prosecutor's office and two other people, without naming them.

Kosovo media identified the prosecutor as Nazmi Mustafi, the head of the anti-corruption task force within the special prosecutor's office. Police said a third suspect was being investigated but had not been arrested.

"Anti-corruption boss in jail," declared the front-page of the Zeri newspaper, adding that police had arrested Mustafi at his office and also raided his home.

Police said the three suspects "allegedly extorted sums of money from a suspect in a case", without giving further details.
