Prime Minister Sali Berisha received today the Mayor of Thessaloniki Yiannis Boutaris. Accompanying the mayor to the meeting was the ambassador of Greece in Tirana Nicolas Pazios.

After he gave a warm welcome to the guest, PM Berisha thanked Mayor Boutaris for the hospitality and support that Thessaloniki City has given to more than 70 thousand Albanians and their families living and working there.

Mayor Boutaris thanked PM Berisha for the warm hospitality and reconfirmed the will of Thessaloniki City Hall to intensify cooperation and economic, cultural and artistic exchanges in the benefit of developing friendship as well as the interest of Thessaloniki and Albania interests.

In this context, Mayor Boutaris informed the prime minister that in the course of this visit he will hold meetings with Tirana Mayor and make evident all the fields where can develop an intensive cooperation between Tirana and Thessaloniki. And further on, he will also sign the agreement on Thessaloniki and Durrës becoming twin cities. The agreement also carries several aspects of these two important port cities in the region building a fruitful cooperation.

During the meeting the interlocutors reconfirmed the will to increase investments and mutual trade exchanges as an important factor in economic growth and wellbeing of the citizens.

Mayor Boutaris took the opportunity of expressing to PM Berisha the wish of welcoming him to Thessaloniki as a great friend and promoter of the very good relations and full cooperation of friendship between the two neighboring countries and peoples.
