Spain has begun the process of extraditing Zemun gang leaders Luka Bojovic and gang members Vladimir Milisavljevic and Sinisa Petric to Serbia, Serbian Minister of Justice Snezana Malovic said in Madrid on April 10.
After meeting with Spanish Minister of Justice Alberto Ruiz-Gallardon Malovic told reporters that Spain's judicial leadership was fully aware of the significance of the proceedings being conducted against the Zemun gang in Serbia and that it would try to speed up the extradition process.
She said that the process could take up to a year and that pending this, the Serbian and Spanish authorities would cooperate because proceedings were being conducted in both countries.
Luka Bojovic, Vladimir Milisavljevic and Sinisa Petric were arrested in Valencia on Feb. 9.
Malovic said that one of the topics of the discussion with the Spanish judicial authorities was a new agreement on cooperation between Serbia and Spain, which would for the most part consist of expanded provisions copied from the European Convention on Confiscation and Property Seizures.
