Boris Tadic, a presidential candidate and the leader of the Democratic Party, stated on Tuesday, on the occasion of May 1 - the International Workers' Day - that trade unions and state representatives have an important role, especially in the fight for jobs.

"The International Workers' Day is marked in many countries, and many people stage protests just like in Chicago on May 4, 1886, when demonstrations occurred as a consequence of the fight for the right to work. After that, the world of labor and capital had very difficult relations which have not yet been harmonized and arranged in a way that satisfies all sides," Tadic said while visiting the National Park Fruska Gora.

"Trade unions have a very important role today, as well as state representatives, especially now when finding a job has become so hard everywhere in the world," Tadic noted.

He wished citizens in Serbia and the region a happy International Workers' Day, and then talked with citizens in the National Park, and announced new investments and construction projects which should preserve the ambience of Fruska Gora.

Director of the state-owned company National Park Fruska Gora Dobrivoje Antonic said that there are strategic documents, the master plan for development, and the plan of administration aimed at the maximum protection of Fruska Gora as the backbone for the development of Vojvodina and Serbia.

I am particularly glad that the people who have a European vision and strategy will continue to govern Serbia and Vojvodina. Thus, the National Park will have an opportunity for further development in line with EU standards, Antonic said.
