US and Kosovo sign WMD agreement

The agreement opens the door for Kosovo's participation in US programes designed to help the country and strenthen its capability to control its borders and stop the illegal trade of weapons for destruction and materials used for their production, the statement concludes.

US Ambassador to Kosovo Christopher Dell and Kosovo Minister of Foreign Affairs Enver Hodzaj Wednesday signed a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Agreement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pristina released in a statement.

WMD is chemical, biological and nuclear weaponry, but also any other weapon that can kill and bring significant harm to a large number of humans.

The agreement between the US and Kosovo increases the continuity of cooperation and bilateral partnership in the promotion of safety and defense, the statement reads.

The document will help improve professionalism and efficiency in securing Kosovo borders and dealing with potential incidents.
