After four years of hard work, the world’s longest sea bridge has been completed in China and soon should be opened for traffic.

The recorder among the bridges stands above the Yellow Sea and connects the main urban area of Qingdao city, East China’s Shandong province, with Huangdao district, straddling the Jiaozhou Bay sea areas.

The bridge is 42,5 kilometres long and it is 174 times longer than the London Tower bridges over the Thames River.

Two separate construction teams of workers have been building the different ends of the bridge since 2006, and both of them expressed their satisfaction and relief after the completion.

“The computer models and calculations are all very well but you can't really relax until the two sides are bolted together,” one of the engineers commented for the British Sun magazine.
