According to the definitive results released by the French Interior Ministry, Francois Hollande is in the lead with 28.63%, Nicolas Sarkozy is in second place with 27.18%, and Marine Le Pen is in third with 17.9% after the first round of the presidential elections held yesterday.

So reported the all news channel France 24. In fourth place was the far left candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon with 11.11%, followed by the centrist Francois Bayrou with 9.13%.
Further down are the Greens party candidate Eva Joly with 2.31%, the Neo-Gaullist Nicolas Dupont-Aignan with 1.79%, the Lutte Ouvriere one Nathalie Artaud with 0.56% and the independent Jacques Cheminade with 0.25%. Abstentionism was at 20.53%.
