A special operation organized by the Italian anti-mafia and the Albanian General Prosecutor’s Office enabled the arrest of 9 members of the Sacra Corona Unita, which is a Mafia-like criminal organization.

One of the leaders of this organization, Albino Prudentino, was arrested in the city of Vlora. The “Kalipso” coded operation operates in three different states: Albania, Italy and Thailand. 7 members of this organization were arrested in Italy and one in Thailand.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Lecce in Italy had declared all the persons who were arrested as wanted. Meanwhile, two other members of the organization have not been found yet. For the Albanian party, this operation was entrusted to the General Prosecutor’s Office, which, of course, had the support of the State Police and of the Albanian Intelligence Service.

Investigation for the arrest of Sacra Corona Unita’s members had started since 2008. They are charged for international narcotics trafficking, kidnapping and robbery. The Mafia-like criminal organization exercises its activity in the area of Brindisi in Italy.
