Bulgaria must repay more than 20 million euro back into the EU budget. The money is from the funds allocated to farming and agriculture.

Bulgaria must repay more than 20 million euro back into the EU budget. The money is from the funds allocated to farming and agriculture. This is what the European Commission decided during its annual procedure on repayment of unduly spent funds.

The ruling stipulates that the money has to be returned because of shortcomings in the System for Identification of Agricultural Land Plots.

Because of non-compliance with EU rules and inadequate control, the 27 EU member states have to refund a total of 578.5 million euro of farm money to Brussels.
