The presidential adviser Alexandrina Gatej decided to resign, in the context of the latest statements in the media regarding alleged connections with the former Securitate political police.
"The very specific decision given by the National Council for the Study of the Securitate Archives (CNSAS) based on which I didn't collaborate with the Securitate political police has generated in a speculative, slandering public approach that brought significant prejudice both to my person and to my family. Given the recent unrighteous attacks to my person, I have decided to leave the position I hold", Gatej says on Friday in a press release to Agerpres.
"As a Romanian, it has been an honour to work for the President of my country. I did it with full integrity and professionalism. I thank my colleagues, all the honest and professional representatives I had the chance to work with - representatives of the state institutions, of the business environment and media", Alexandrina Gatej says.
"I came back to Romania with a career in the private economic environment whose results and competence were fully appreciated and rewarded in the past 15 years. I accepted to work for the public sector with the belief that I belong to a generation which has the obligation to contribute to the country's progress. his belief has determined me to make the step from the private economic sector to the public administration even if I had to make sacrifices in my private life", Alexandrina Gatej concluded.
