Following the report approval by the IMF Board members, Romania will receive the seventh tranche, worth 769 million SDR (0.9 billion euros), of the eight-tranche loan, contracted in May 2009 through the agreement with the IMF.

The Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Friday unanimously approved the release of the seventh tranche of the loan for Romania, worth 0.9 billion euros, ratifying the sixth report on Romania's fulfilling the requirements established within the stand-By agreement, Romania's representative to the IMF Mihai Tanasescu told Agerpres on Friday.

Following the report approval by the IMF Board members, Romania will receive the seventh tranche, worth 769 million SDR (0.9 billion euros), of the eight-tranche loan, contracted in May 2009 through the agreement with the IMF.

According to the IMF rules, the Board's report approval will allow the release of the last but one loan tranche in approximately 48 hours, and the money is going to enter the National Bank of Romania's account.

Romania borrowed until now 11.27 billion euros from the IMF, out of a loan totalling 13.15 billion euros, to which one has to add 3.5 billion euros received from the European Union, out of a 5 billion loan, as well as 300 million euros, out of a one billion euro loan, borrowed from the World Bank.

The total support package for Romania, agreed on with the big world financiers on May 4, 2009, amounts to 20 billion euros.
