Bulgarians arrest 14 border policemen

Fourteen border police officers were arrested at the Danube Bridge checkpoint between Bulgaria and Romania.

Fourteen border police officers were arrested at the Danube Bridge checkpoint between Bulgaria and Romania.

Three of them were taken to 72-hour prison, while four of them were released on 2.000 lev bail (around EUR 1.000), Bulgarian Minister Interior Cvetan Cvetanov stated.

According to the MI, they were arrested for racketeering, mainly of foreigners travelling transit outside the European Union.

The arrests at the checkpoint were part of the ongoing Internal Security operation.
