Germany is interested in the Balkan region not only because it is a part of Europe, but also because Germany wants to invest in these countries, and because its army is deployed in Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) and in Kosovo, Croatian President Ivo Josipovic stated after the meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.

Josipovic told that regional relations were one of the most important topics of the meeting. Merkel's cabinet released in a statement that the two officials expressed interest in a speedy forming of the government in BiH and hope for a fast implementation of the country's constitutional reforms, which would facilitate its EU integration.
