Europa Capital buys Mall of Sofia for 100M euro

Real estate fund Europa Capital will acquire the Mall of Sofia in a deal worth 100 million euro from its current owners GE Real Estate and Avestus Capital Partners, a media statement announced on June 8 2011.

Europa Capital is part of the Rockefeller Group.

The deal will be financed by the Hungarian bank OTP and the Bulgarian DSK, although once the purchase goes through, the mall will continue to be managed by Avestus Capital Partners, the report said.

This is Europa Capital's second major deal in Bulgaria, after the real estate fund purchased the Retail Park Plovdiv for 20 million euro.

Mall of Sofia is in the centre of Sofia, on the junction of Stamboliiski Boulevard and Opalchenska Str.

It was opened on June 9 2006, consisting also of the complex is Sofia Tower, an office building located just above Mall of Sofia.

The mall is four storeys tall and has a total built up area of 70 000 sq m of which 35 000 sq m are allocated to commercial and entertainment. About 10 000 sq m have been allocated to offices. Additionally, the underground car park comprises about 22 000 sq m with capacity for 700 vehicles. The remainder 8000 sq m is occupied by service and common areas.
