The annual report of the Governor of the Bank of Albania in parliament was followed by advices for the persons responsible for taking decisions. After analyzing the economic developments for 2010, Ardian Fullani said that they should create facilities for investors and economy.

“The stable and permanent development of the country and the decrease of the inherited structural weaknesses imply the increase of competition in the Albanian economy. The structural reform should be oriented by ambitious objectives and by considering the real situation. Reforms should aim at creating a favorable climate for foreign and local investments, the stimulation of employment and the further increase of well-being,” said Fullani.

The Governor said that regardless of the economic crisis, Albania did not have the same negative effects that were evidenced in other countries.

“The banking system remains the main player for financial mediation in the country. In the end of 2010, activities increased twice more than in 2009, by representing nearly 81 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The financing system is mainly based on the clients’ deposits,” said Fullani.

During 2010, the Albanian economy increased by more than 3 percent. The service and industry sector has shown an increase, and construction has decreased. Even agriculture has shown a considerable increased.
