Serbian cartoonist Sasa Dimitrijevic has won the first prize at this year's international cartoon exhibition of the Croatian Cartoonist Association, to open in Zagreb's Klovicevi Dvori gallery on June 28.
Serbian cartoonist Sasa Dimitrijevic has won the first prize at this year's international cartoon exhibition of the Croatian Cartoonist Association, to open in Zagreb's Klovicevi Dvori gallery on June 28.
The Serbian cartoonist, whose work focuses on newspaper cartoons and political and social commentary, won the first prize with a cartoon featuring Jesus, a symbol of clean living, sitting alone at the table for the Last Supper under a "No Smoking" sign, while his Twelve Apostles are smoking outside.
The second prize went to renowned Russian cartoonist Mikhail Zlatkovski, and the third to Grahame Arnould of Canada.
The 16th international cartoon exhibition in Zagreb will feature around 100 cartoons selected from 744 cartoons sent by 331 authors from 61 countries. The cartoons to be put on display include those by prominent Croatian authors with international experience such as Nikola Listes and Mojmir Mihatov.
The cartoon show will be open until July 10.
