Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH) Chief Prosecutor Milorad Barasin has been suspended from the office due to disciplinary action the authorities launched against him.
The First Instance Disciplinary Panel of the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council adopted a decision on Thursday to temporarily suspend Barasin from his position until the disciplinary action is completed. The document entered into force on Friday and Barasin can appeal the decision to the Second Instance Disciplinary Panel within three days from the reception of the document.
Over the past few days, Sarajevo media brought Barasin's name in connection with arms traders from whom, according to reports, the BiH prosecutor even accepted bribes.
Barasin was also discussed in Sarajevo media over the recent talks on the agreement as regards transfer of cases between Serbia and BiH that was supposed to be signed in The Hague early in July, in the presence of Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia Serge Brammertz.
