10 people have been arrested after trying to rob an office of DSK Bank in Sofia overnight. The bank office is located at the Alexander Battenberg Square.

The arrest came after an overnight police pursue and ambush.

“10 people have been arrested after trying to break into a DSK Bank office within a police operation codenamed the Protected,” Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov announced for FOCUS News Agency.

“The high-profile operation is codenamed the Protected because in most cases the detainees are known by the police and have kept contact with the law-enforcement authorities but have been released by the court after every arrest, i.e. they enjoy the protection of the court,” Tsvetanov explained.
