Croatia Summit 2011 has been exceptionally successful, and during bilateral meetings it has been discussed how Croatia can help countries in the region in their efforts to come closer to the European Union, Croatian Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor said at a news conference at the end of the Croatia Summit event in Dubrovnik on Saturday.

During the two-day summit in the southern Croatian Adriatic resort, Kosor held talks with her Slovenian and Belgian counterparts, Borut Pahor and Yves Leterme.

"We discussed at the bilateral meetings how Croatia can help southeastern European countries to fully prepare themselves for their European path," Kosor said.

She added that she and her interlocutors also discussed the next steps Croatia should make towards the signing of an accession agreement with the European Union and subsequently towards the ratification of the document.

"I have received assurances from all that this will happen fast," she said.

At the final discussion of the summit, Croatian Parliament Speaker Luka Bebic spoke about Croatia's interest in long-term stabilisation and democratisation of the southeast of Europe, peace and development of that part of the continent.

Developing regional and cross-border cooperation, Croatia would like to positively impact the political and economic situation in the region and offer all necessary assistance, Bebic said.
