The prices of food in Croatia have registered a small increase compared to worldwide trends, the latest data from Central Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

Compared to June 2010, food prices in Croatia went up by 2.4 per cent. Broken down into sub-categories, this means that prices of bread and cereals grew 6.1 per cent, oil rose 23 per cent and fruits by more than seven per cent. The price of vegetables dropped 5.4 per cent, while meat retained last year’s prices.

The prices worldwide grew more than 33 per cent on average, with the price of corn increasing 84 per cent, sugar 62 per cent, wheat 55 per cent and soya 47 per cent. Cereals are on average 55 per cent more expensive, daily Glas Istre writes.
