Tourists spend around 1.2 billion Euros on food during their vacations in Croatia. Yet a lot of the products offered come from other countries to the detriment of Croatian farmers, the daily writes.
Even though most cooks would prefer locally grown produce because it tastes better, they say their prices are often a barrier for tourists on a budget.
Some economists estimate that for every 100 kunas received from tourism, 25-30 go to imports.
