Bulgaria, Croatia recognize National Transitional Council in Libya

In a joint statement made by the foreign ministers of Bulgaria and Croatia, Nickolay Mladenov and Gordan Jandrokovic, the two countries recognize the National Transitional Council as the legitimate authority in Libya, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said.

Muammar Gaddafi no longer has the capacity to oppress or threaten the Libyan people, the statement of the two ministers says.

Bulgaria and Croatia support the National Transitional Council and the prospect of a democratic and representative government of that country.

“We expect to resume our diplomatic presence in Tripoli as soon as possible, and to work with other international partners in support of the Libyan people on its road to democracy, the joint statement of the ministers Mladenov and Jandrokovic also says.
