The State Census Commission (DPK) in Macedonia decided to suspend all activities relating to the census of population, households and apartments in that country.

The State Census Commission (DPK) in Macedonia decided to suspend all activities relating to the census of population, households and apartments in that country.

At its meeting Monday evening, the commission noted that the conditions for continuation of the census were not met, and therefore it cannot produce relevant results, so the commission resigned collectively.

The methodology determined by the Macedonian Statistical Office and the European Statistical Office was not implemented in the right way, especially the part pertaining to the use of original documents for identification, the commission stressed.

The census in Macedonia, the ninth in a row, started on October 1, and should have been completed by October 15.

The census was originally scheduled for April, but was postponed due to early elections.
