Transparency International Bosnia and Herzegovina (TI BiH) condemns the new attempts by the government of the Republic of Srpska to challenge the role and work of the Main office for the revision of the RS Public sector.
The proposal of the RS government for a revision of the office for revision, after reports from this agency about the RS budget which shown a much higher deficit then the one presented by the government, is a clear attempt at pressuring the main revision agency and avoiding any responsibility by the RS for the spending of the budget.
On the other hand, by putting pressure on the revision agency, the RS government is effecting the independence of this institution, in order to the role of the revision.
Transparency notes that the revision reports are already not respected, and that the recommendations by this institution aren't taken into consideration by the RS government.
TI BiH has sent an appeal to the legislative branch to spot interfering in work of institution who should have a supervisory role and let them have a minimal level of independence in order for them to do their job.
