Weapons were found at the Borik sports hall in Banja Luka ahead of the celebration of the Republika Srpska (RS) jubilee, the Banja Luka media reported, referring to the statement of RS Interior Ministry (MUP) spokesperson Mirna Soja.

She said that weapons were found on Sunday afternoon during the counter-diversion search of the Borik hall, within the planned measures and activities taken by MUP to secure the celebration in view of the marking of the Day of RS and its patron saint's day St Stefan.

Taking into account the quantity and type of weapons found, if it had been used, it could have seriously jeopardize the participants and guests of the official celebration in view of RS's 20th anniversary, Soja stressed.

She added that the RS Crime Police in cooperation with the District Prosecutor's Office in Banja Luka are taking a series of activities to shed light on the case.

The examination of certain objects is under way and a large number of persons are being questioned, Soja underlined.
