Azerbaijan finances building of park in Sarajevo with 1.5 mln KM

"Friendship Park'' built by funds of Republic of Azerbaijan in Sarajevo district Dobrinja V in Novi Grad municipality, in presence of numerous citizens and high BiH officials, was formally opened on Friday.

Fund "Haydar Aliyev" from Republic of Azerbaijan financed the building of the modern park with around 1.5 million KM, where there is something for every generation, athletes and children.

Musical, children and sport parts have been built and AGH Sakkal – part intended for 'grey beards' and all zones are connected by pedestrian tracks with horticultural decoration, whereas recreational zone has jogging track, climbing wall and table tennis.

Opening this park, vice president of International fund "Haydar Aliyev" and daughter of president of Azerbaijan Leyla Aliyev reminded of massacre which took place 20 years ago in BiH and the city of Hojali in Azerbaijan, when Armenian Army killed 630 civilians.

"The Army killed all people in Hojali. Silence which came after it contributed to the ethnic cleansing to be continues and three years after that genocide took place in the heart of Europe in Srebrenica'', she added and emphasized that those events must not be forgotten and tragedy of these two nations makes us even better friends.

Member of Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic, who attended the opening ceremony, speaking about long friendly tradition of the two countries, emphasized that next step in the friendship should be made soon.

During the ceremony of the park opening monument was erected to the victims of war on BiH (1992-1995) and tragedy in Hojali in Azerbaijan (February 25/26 in 1992).
