Macedonia's external trade volume stands at US$1.52 billion in early 2012

According to the total volume of international commodity trade, the most important trade partners of the Republic of Macedonia are Germany, Russia, Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia (47.2% of the total international commodity trade).
The external trade volume of Macedonia in January and February 2012 was 1.519.936.000 US dollars. The export value of goods was 581.087 thousand US dollars, and the import value was 938.849 thousand US dollars. Import coverage by export was 61.9%. The trade deficit in the first two months was 357.762 thousand US dollars, according to preliminary data of the State Statistical Office.
The trade exchange according to products shows that in the exports the most significant products are supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ferro-nickel iron and steel products (flat-rolled products), petroleum oil preparations and clothes. In the imports, the most significant products are the crude petroleum oils, electricity, platinum and platinum alloys, nickel ores and concentrates and natural gas, in the gaseous state.
In January and February 2012, the most important export partners were the EU's 27 countries (64.7%) and Western Balkan countries (20.8%), and the most important import partners were the EU's 27 countries (51.3%) and the developing countries (31.7%).
