Banks post huge profits in Croatia again

Banks in Croatia have once again posted huge profits. In the first three months of 2012, banks in Croatia record profits before tax of 1.29 billion kuna (170 million Euros), according to interim unaudited data for 32 banks in the country, it was announced on Wednesday by the Croatian National Bank (HNB).

In the first three months of 2012, banks in Croatia record profits before tax of 1.29 billion kuna (170 million Euros), according to interim unaudited data for 32 banks in the country, it was announced on Wednesday by the Croatian National Bank (HNB).

The 2012 profit is a 2.4 per cent or 30.3 million kuna (4 million Euros) increase on gross profits than profits before tax from 33 banks from the same period last year.

otal assets of 32 banks at the end of March this year amounted to 406 billion kuna (53 billion Euros), which is 0.23 percent less than at the end of last year, reported Tportal.

Zagrebacka Bank (ZABA) recorded the highest profits with 462.1 million kuna (60 million Euros) pre-tax profit in the first quarter. Privredna Bank Zagreb (PBZ) were next with 206,4 million Euros) (28 million Euros) followed by Raiffeisenbank with 224.4 million kuna (30 million Euros).
