Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic confirmed after talks with Namibian officials in Windhoek that this country will not recognise the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo-Metohija.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Vuk Jeremic confirmed after talks with Namibian officials in Windhoek that this country will not recognise the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo-Metohija.

Jeremic, who is on a working visit to Namibia, said that the position of Namibia on Kosovo is clear, firm and unchanging, so Namibia has no intention of recognising the province in the future either.

Namibia will continue to support Serbia in all international forums and debates in which official Belgrade is continuing its diplomatic struggle for the southern Serbian province, Jeremic said.

The Minister said that he spoke with Namibian officials about the possibilities for economic cooperation, adding that the potential for cooperation between the two countries in all fields is large-scale.

The Minister announced that the Namibian Minister of Defence, Major General Charles Ndaxu Namoloh, will visit Belgrade over the next few weeks.

Namibian Minister of Foreign Affairs Utoni Nujoma said that it is necessary to continue to look for a peaceful solution to the problem of Kosovo-Metohija, adding that opportunities for reconciliation between nations in the Balkans should be sought.

Nujoma said that strong friendly ties between the two countries have been reaffirmed today.

He also confirmed that the future cooperation will be expanded, especially in the areas of agriculture, pharmaceutical and defence industries.

He recalled that Belgrade and Windhoek have long, traditional friendly ties, which date back from the time of the former Yugoslavia.
