October will be marked as the month of Swedish culture in Belgrade, when a large number of Swedish artists will be visiting the capital as Sweden will be the honorary guest of the 55th International Belgrade Book Fair.

At the fair, to take place from Oct. 25 to 31, Sweden will be presented to readers under a project entitled "Voices from Sweden."

"In cooperation with the Swedish Cultural Council and Swedish Institute, we have invited some 20 writers to talk with children and adults at the fair and our partners throughout Belgrade," said the Swedish Embassy's cultural affairs counselor, Helene Larsson.

Sweden is preparing to present some 800 books, of which some have been translated into Serbian and other languages in the region. The translated books were published between 2004 and 2010.

During the week of the Book Fair, Swedish artists will also take part in the Belgrade Jazz Festival. An exposition, dubbed "Facing the Climate," devoted to environmental protection and featuring illustrations by five artists from Sweden and five from the Balkans, will open in the Cultural Center Grad on Oct. 4.

The exhibition will tour Serbia over the next two years as part of a film festival devoted to environmental protection, under the auspices of the Goethe Institute.
