This is the right moment to sell Telekom Srbija, a government owned telecommunications company, which will create more competition on the telecommunications market and allow the citizens to get free shares, State Secretary for Economy Nebojsa Ciric and Telenor Serbia CEO Kjell Morten Johnsen said in Belgrade on Tuesday.

The Telekom sale should provide the company with a good strategic partner that will ensure its stable growth in the future, Ciric said at the 10th Economic Summit.

The sale requires a political consensus, Ciric noted, adding it was good the government planned to direct the money from the sale to capital investments.

Johnsen stated the privatization of Telekom was a good thing, giving Telenor another competitor, whoever it may be.

It is an opportunity for Telenor to better its service with the help of the competition, but it is also a good thing for Serbia's entire public sector, Johnsen concluded.
