Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Mladjan Dinkic said in Belgrade on Sunday that a radical reconstruction of the government is necessary, announcing that an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the budget for 2011 will soon be reached.

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Mladjan Dinkic said in Belgrade on Sunday that a radical reconstruction of the government is necessary, announcing that an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the budget for 2011 will soon be reached.

“I do not believe there will be early elections and I think that the idea by Serbian President Boris Tadic about the cabinet reshuffle is good, and my personal opinion is that either a radical reconstruction should be carried out or the work should not be started at all,” Economy Minister Dinkic said for TV B92.

Dinkic, who chairs the United Regions of Serbia (URS), said that this also applies to the work of his ministry and that he will gladly leave the government if someone finds his work as economy minister to be unsatisfactory.

According to Dinkic, it is time to “draw the line” and say who is responsible for what, who did what and name the ministers who did not do what was expected of them.

Dinkic said that the agreement on the 2011 budget was not reached due to the illness of Finance Minister Diana Dragutinovic, who is in charge of the negotiations.

“We have now resumed the negotiations with the IMF via e-mail and the agreement on the budget for next year should be reached by Thursday,” Dinkic said.
