Muslims celebrate Kurban Bayram

Muslims in Serbia and worldwide celebrate Tuesday Kurban Bayram, "Festival of Sacrifice", the most important Islamic holiday to commemorate the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (Isma'il) as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened to provide him with a ram to sacrifice instead.

Muslims in Serbia and worldwide celebrate Tuesday Kurban Bayram, "Festival of Sacrifice", the most important Islamic holiday to commemorate the willingness of Abraham (Ibrahim) to sacrifice his son Ishmael (Isma'il) as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened to provide him with a ram to sacrifice instead.

Kurban Bayram is celebrated for four days and starts two months and 10 days after Ramadan.

For Muslims, it is the day of belief in God, understanding and love.

Serbian President congratulates Kurban Bayram

President of Serbia Boris Tadic congratulated Kurban Bayram Tuesday to all Islamic believers and to the Heads of the Islamic community in Serbia.

“May you spend the holiday in peace and happiness, together with your families, friends and neighbors,” Tadic stated in a greeting message, his cabinet announced.
