Commander of NATO's Kosovo Force (KFOR) Major General Erhard Buehler said in Nis, central Serbia, on Thursday that his forces will raise their mobility, flexibility and readiness to compensate for troop reduction.
Buehler met with Serbian Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Miloje Miletic and informed him of the plans for KFOR troop reduction and reorganization.
According to Buehler, KFOR will stay dedicated to its mission to provide safety and freedom of movement in Kosovo, and to that end, it will continue working with the EU Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo and the local police.
The two officials agreed that the cooperation between KFOR and the Serbian Armed Forces is good, professional and based on mutual respect, the Serbian military has announced.
The situation along the administrative line between Serbia and its breakaway province of Kosovo is stable and peaceful, the two stated, adding that any illegal activities that extend across the line could be suppressed through cooperation and simultaneous patrols on both sides.
The two generals discussed the general situation in Kosovo, especially in the predominantly Serb populated northern part of the territory, according to the Serbian military website.
Miletic and Buehler agreed to continue and further develop the cooperation between the Serbian forces and KFOR.
