The crew making Angelina Jolie’s first movie as a director will by Friday finish filming of the exterior scenes in former military barracks in Sarajevo, after she got the permit for that again, Edin Sarkic from Skaut Film stated on Wednesday.
At first, it was foreseen for the filming of those scenes to last 10 days, but then it was decided to finish it in three or four days, Sarkic added. Angelina Jolie herself is not present at the filming, but she is expected to stay with the crew in Sarajevo briefly.
The permit for this film’s making in Bosnia-Herzegovina was revoked in mid-October due to severe resistance of Association of Women Victims of War, and based on rumours that the film is about a Muslim woman who falls in love with a Serb who raped her, world agencies report.
Because of that the crew decided to film in Budapest scenes that were supposed to be filmed in Sarajevo. In the meantime, Jolie’s crew got the filming permit again, and some scenes are filmed in Sarajevo.
The plot of this film is a love story of a Serb man and a Muslim woman just before the civil war 1992-95 began.
The misunderstanding with Association of Women Victims of War was settled with Jolie’s personal involvement, who explained the real plot of the film through a correspondence with the association.
Angelina Jolie, as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador, and her husband Brad Pitt visited BiH in April, when they visited refugee camps in eastern part of that country. Due to her involvement, tens of new homes for returnees were built.
