The share of agricultural product exports in Serbia's total export amounted to 22.4 percent, while the participation of the agricultural product import in the country's overall imports added up to 6 percent.

Serbia's export of agriculture products over the past 11 months brought in a record USD 1.07 billion worth of foreign exchange surplus, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) released on Thursday.

In this period, Serbia exported USD 1.98 billion worth of agri-food products, while the imports totalled USD 912 million.

Vojislav Stankovic, an assistant-researcher in the PKS, pointed out that in addition to the record surplus Serbia achieved another record when it comes to the coverage of food product imports by exports, totalling 217.1 percent.

According to Stankovic, food product export increased by 12.7 percent in 2010, while the import was 3.7 percent higher than in the year before.

The surplus in the exchange of agricultural products in this period is by 21.7 percent higher, and it exceeds the country's total food import, Stankovic added.
