Head of the Serbian Government Office for European Integration Milica Delevic said Tuesday the office had received almost all of the answers to the European Commission questionnaire, but that the work was not yet finished, cause they still needed to be edited.
According to Delevic, the answers from the ministries of culture, trade and justice were delivered Tuesday, while the ministries of defence, agriculture and foreign affairs sent their replies earlier.
"We are waiting until the end of the day to receive the remaining answers," Delevic told Tanjug. She hopes everything will be done within the deadline and the answers delivered to EU Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fuele on January 31.
"Some replies are sent for additional work, while most go to be translated," Delevic explained. The translation is then edited and everything prepared for the answers to be adopted and taken to Brussels.
Fuele delivered the questionnaire in Belgrade November 24, 2010. It contains 2,483 questions divided into 6 annexes and 33 chapters.
Based on Serbia's reply, the European Commission will form an opinion on the country's readiness to receive the status of a candidate for EU membership.
The opinion should be delivered in approximately one year.
