EULEX has brought in for questioning Nedzat Krasnici, the closest associate of outgoing Kosovo Minister of Transport and Telecommunication Fatmir Ljimaj.

EULEX questioned Krasnici for several hours, seeking for answers regarding the investigation into the affairs of the Ministry of Transport, whose Procurement Department Krasnici is in charge of, EULEX spokesperson Karin Limdal told.

EULEX qualified Ljimaj as the prime suspect and Krasnici as the number two suspect in the crimes involving money laundering, abuse of office, fraud, blackmail and organized crime. EULEX officials did not disclose any other details regarding the questioning of Krasnici.

In 2010, EULEX chief Prosecutor Johannes van Vreeswijk made accusations on several occasions against Ljimaj and Krasnici, announcing that they could be sentenced to 55 years in prison.
