The audit of the Serbian national air carrier JAT Airways will be launched on March 1, Serbia's State Auditor Radoslav Sretenovic announced on Thursday.

He told journalists in the Serbian National Assembly that inspection of financial records of another large public company, Zeleznice Srbije (the national railway carrier of Serbia), is being planned, as well as the budget revision of a several local self-governments, but he did not specify their names.

The ministries which were not included in the 2010 audit will also be subjects to inspection, including the ministries of defence, interior, finances, and economy and regional development.

Sretenovic said that he stands behind the report issued by the State Audit Institution (DRI) which triggered charges by four ministries and other representatives of the ministries which were included in the audit.

It is our obligation to determine whether there were any violations of the Public Procurement Law, Sretenovic said.
