The Independent Trade Union of Police announced Friday it would continue its strike while waiting for the return of Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, who should resume negotiations with the union.

Union representative Velimir Barbulov told Tanjug on Thursday that talks with Dacic should begin Monday, February 14, along with contract negotiations with the Ministry of Finance.

The union is demanding a 40 percent raise, new uniforms and boots, changes to the police law and a special collective agreement.

The other police union, The Police Union of Serbia, is not on strike and advocates waiting for the government's decision regarding the special collective agreement.

The Police Union of Serbia has given the government 14 days to decide on the issue, and if the proposed agreement is not accepted, the union will go on strike February 18.
